It feels like you’re working in a large home

Right next to Wilshire / Vermont Metro station is this popular late night cafe. It is open until 12am everyday, serving drink, hot food and cakes. Cafe Mak feels like a large, vintage home with its wooden furnishings, 20th century decor, and roomy spaces. It’s a wonderful spot to camp and get seriously productive, but it can at times be too conversational with university students passionately chatting about an upcoming project.

The exterior isn’t very obvious

The patio is romantically lit at night

Its outdoor entrance reminds of a pub, with simple brick architecture and a glowing sign. The patio is a pleasant area to chat and work on warmer days. The menu serves Korean cuisine including fried rice, tteokbokki, stir-fried noodles, as well as western favourites like spaghetti meatballs, salads and sandwiches. Drink-wise, there is a lot on offer, including fruit smoothies, tea, coffee, and milkshakes.

Wifi is provided for free, there are large tables for group work

Single tables for individual work

If you are a digital nomad or looking for the perfect place to work away from home, Cafe Mak is a serious contender for the best that Koreatown can offer. It is comfortable, spacious, has bathrooms and if you want to order anything, it’s a simple task. There’s a button on every table and you just need to press it for a staff member to come over.

The food isn’t spectacular, but will satiate your hunger

The cafe serves food, drink and cakes until night

An outdoor indoor part of the cafe, you’ll know what we mean when you visit
